Journey through Matrescence -POSTPARTUM PREPARATION

The moment a baby is born, so is a mother. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is somebody absolutely new. And she deserves to be cared for, just like her baby.

What is Matrescence

The monumental transformation a woman experiences in her journey from maiden to mother.

“Becoming a mother leaves no woman as it found her. It unravels her and rebuilds her. It cracks her open, takes her to her edges. It’s both beautiful and brutal; often at the same time”

Why do we need to prepare for motherhood?

Motherhood is natural, and it is instinctive, but that doesn't mean that it's easy.

Before I became a mother, I knew that I loved children.

I believed that all I needed to do was to love my child and that all would be well. In its core essence, yes this is true. Yet, little did I know how tough it was going to be.

Having worked with hundreds of mamas through their pregnancy and postpartum, what always comes up in our conversation is "I wish someone told me how hard motherhood was going to be."

And it's not about just simply being told that it's going to be rough, because you can't really imagine what you've never experienced and that isn't going to help you other than instilling fear.

But instead, going deeper into understanding what is realistic in the early days of motherhood and preparing our mind, body and heart for it will help to smoothen the transition into this phase where you will meet a brand new person - not your baby, but YOU, mama.
