Chia Seed Jam

Kelly

Commercial jams can be really high in sugar, and as a nutrition consultant, I recommend avoiding added sugars for babies under 2 years old as far as possible. I love making this really simple chia seed jam that can be whipped up in minutes as I prepare breakfast for my children, with zero added sugar, just natural sweetness from the fruit!

Ingredients:

Frozen/fresh fruit

Chia seeds

Optional: lemon juice, cinnamon/spices

Steps:

  1. Cut up the fruit into small pieces if needed and place them in a small pot.

  2. Heat the fruit over the stove and mash it up as the fruit softens.

  3. Stir in the chia seeds and other optional ingredients.

  4. Remove from the stove and allow it to cool down before serving.

Fruits that work well for jams: Berries (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries), peaches, apricots, plums, any juicy fruit

Storage: I typically like to just make enough for a single use since it takes less than 10mins to make, but if you would like to make a bigger batch, you can store it in the fridge for about a week.

Serve this up with any bread, or level up the nutrient density with french toast.
